Several time this season I gave this advice: It’s money in, money out.
All the money you receive from selling books….actual cash and checks that can be deposited are your receipts --- money in.
Money you pay to Usborne is your cost---money out. The difference is your income.
Do not consider commissions, free books, shipping. NOTHING! Money in, money out.

Chocolate Parties Put FUN into Your Shows to Get Bookings! By Becky Dean, Senior Executive Supervisor
Guests book shows because: #1 - They had fun! #2 - To help their friend out. #3 - To earn free books.
A couple of years ago I began to realize that although my shows were informative - they were a bit dry and lacked the fun. Personally I do not care for "silly games", so I developed the Chocolate Party game as a way I could put FUN into my shows with playing something pointless. The Chocolate Party game has a "purpose"! :) Everyone learns product knowledge on Usborne's Story of Chocolate book, they learn interesting facts about chocolate, and is a great hands-on example of how Usborne books make learning fun.
To make the game fun and exciting I have chocolate that I can throw out - usually Hershey Kisses or Tootsie Rolls as they are the least expensive. I let everyone know that I will throw chocolate to whoever first answers the question accurately. I go through the questions quickly so it does not drag out, having a lot of fun with it myself which makes it a blast for guests. Guests get the hang of it after the first few questions and then sometimes it turns quite completive and humorous with women fighting over chocolate. ;-) Make sure you toss out the chocolate to the winners (vs. handing it to them) or it won't have the same effect!
To get people to the show, I put a sticker on all postcard invites inviting guests to come to a Usborne Book CHOCOLATE Party.
An Usborne Book CHOCOLATE Party!! Come & discover the FUN of learning - and let’s eat CHOCOLATE together!! J If you are unable to come, you may order online at:
