Very First Reading Set
These are
wonderful! I just received mine this week. I have a
three year old who really wants to read so he can
play "Words With Friends" on his iPod. Last night I
sat down with him and we read the Pirate book. He
absolutely loves it! He loves that the story as well
as the fact that he can read the simple words on the
right side of the book. From a former kindergarten
teacher's perspective I can see these books helping
kids in the following ways:
1. Build
confidence. They only have to know a few sounds in
the beginning to sound out these words. They feel
like they can really read when they start!
2. Build
relationships! Reading together with your child is
an awesome experience and oh so exciting when the
child can participate in the reading.
3. The
pictures at the end of the book for retelling are
awesome! You can really test your child's
comprehension levels.
4. Puzzle 2
Choosing the right word for the picture. These are
activities that are usually done through worksheets.
These are so great in the back of the book because
it ties in with the story. It creates more interest
with the child.
5. Then in
puzzle 3 with the phonics activities and teaching
rhyming words is so effective.
6. Books
are sequential and systematic. They follow a plan!
One book builds on another.
All of these components will really help a child
develop their reading skills. This is just my
perspective after having worked with my son on the
first book. As of today I have sold 5 sets of
these! I am planning on selling much, much more.
